Do I need to update my OCI?
Only for OCI passport update
This website is not a multi-service portal. It is focused only on helping existing OCI cardholders update their OCI record with a new passport.
Existing OCI holder
You already hold an OCI card and your British/foreign passport has recently changed.
Within 90 days
Your new passport was issued in the last 90 days. Updating inside this window avoids late fees and VFS charges.
No other changes
Your name, DOB, nationality and OCI card details are unchanged. Any of those changes triggers the Miscellaneous route.
Check if OCI Link is right for you
Answer a few questions. This is a simple website guide — our team will confirm before starting.
Do you already have an OCI card?
OCI Link is only for existing OCI cardholders.
What's the reason you need an OCI update?
Standard OCI Link is for passport-number updates. Other changes need the Miscellaneous route.
When did you receive your new passport?
Online linking is only possible within 90 days of the new passport issue date. Tip: start as soon as the new passport arrives — don't wait, in case of any back-and-forth.
When was your current OCI booklet first issued?
If your OCI was issued at 20 or above — at any current age, including 50+ or 60+ — no new booklet is needed. The one-time re-issue rule only applies when the OCI was issued under 20 and you've since turned 20+ (facial-change rule).
Is this your first new passport since turning 20?
Since your OCI was issued under 20, a one-time mandatory booklet re-issue applies on the first passport after you turn 20. After that, future passport updates use standard OCI Link.
Was your OCI granted through spouse route?
Spouse-based OCI holders need a subsisting marriage declaration plus spouse passport/OCI documents with the upload.
OCI Link looks suitable
Your case appears suitable for our OCI Link passport update service. We will still verify your documents before uploading.
OCI Link may be suitable
Spouse-based OCI holders can usually update the new passport online, but extra spouse/marriage declaration documents may be required.
OCI re-issue / new booklet needed
The first new passport after turning 20 requires a one-time mandatory OCI booklet re-issue (Miscellaneous Services, £125) — not a simple online link. Future passport updates can use standard OCI Link.
OCI Miscellaneous / new booklet needed (£125)
Lost, damaged or facial-appearance-change cases require a new OCI booklet via Miscellaneous Services — not a simple passport link. A VFS appointment is usually needed.
Name change — new booklet needed (£125)
Any name change (after marriage, surname update or any mismatch between OCI and current passport) needs an OCI Miscellaneous re-issue — not online linking. We'll guide you on the supporting documents.
Nationality change — OCI transfer (£125)
If your OCI was issued on a different country's passport (e.g. Australian → now British), a new OCI booklet is required to transfer to your British passport. Good news: you don't need to submit Indian-origin proof again — only the transfer documents.
Wrong details on OCI — two routes
Within 14 days of OCI issue: walk in to VFS directly and they will correct it on the spot.
More than 14 days after issue: a full OCI replacement is required via Miscellaneous (£125).
Address / ex-spouse change — new booklet needed (£125)
Address changes on the OCI, or removing an ex-spouse's name from the OCI, require a new OCI booklet via Miscellaneous Services. The updated details will then reflect on the new booklet.
Past 90 days — online linking not possible
Once the new passport is more than 90 days old, online linking is no longer possible — no exceptions. The route is a fresh OCI booklet via Miscellaneous (£125) with a VFS appointment. If you've already received a penalty/rejection email from the OCI department, this is the only way forward.
Come back once your new passport is issued
OCI Link updates the OCI record with the new passport details. Start the process within 90 days of the new passport issue date. You're welcome to message us in advance so we can pre-check your documents.

OCI Link vs OCI Re-issue
Use this as a simple guide. Final route depends on your exact OCI/passport history.
Use this route when only the passport number has changed, the name and all other details on the OCI match your new passport, and you're within 90 days of the new passport issue date.
Every new passport for a child or young person under 20 is linked online within 90 days. No new booklet needed each time.
If your OCI was originally issued when you were 20 or older — including current age 50+ or 60+ — every passport update stays on the standard online OCI Link route. No one-time booklet rule applies.
Spouse-based holders also use OCI Link, but a subsisting marriage declaration plus the spouse's passport/OCI documents must accompany the upload. Matrix provides the declaration forms.
A new OCI booklet is required when any of the next rules below apply. Once the new booklet is issued, your current passport details will reflect on it.
If your current OCI was issued under age 20 and you are now 20+, the first new passport since turning 20 triggers a one-time mandatory booklet re-issue (facial-change rule). Future passport updates then revert to standard OCI Link.
Any name change (after marriage, surname update) or mismatch between OCI and current passport requires Miscellaneous re-issue.
If your OCI was on a different country's passport (e.g. Australian) and you've now become British, a new OCI booklet is needed to transfer. Indian-origin proof is not required again — only the transfer documents.
If DOB or citizenship is incorrect: within 14 days of OCI issue, walk in to VFS — they correct it directly. After 14 days, full OCI replacement via Miscellaneous is required.
No age rule. A new booklet via Miscellaneous is the only route.
To update the address printed on the OCI, or remove an ex-spouse's name, a new booklet via Miscellaneous is required.
Once the new passport is more than 90 days old, online linking is no longer possible — no exceptions. The only route is a fresh booklet via Miscellaneous with a VFS appointment. Penalty / rejection emails from the OCI department confirm this.
Common questions
Short answers for the dedicated OCI Link service.
Is there a deadline to update my OCI after a new passport?
Yes — 90 days from the new passport issue date. Within 90 days, the online OCI Link route (£100) is possible. Past 90 days, online linking is no longer accepted and a new OCI booklet via Miscellaneous (£125) with a VFS appointment is the only route. Tip: start the link as soon as the new passport arrives — don't wait, in case the OCI department comes back with any query.
Why shouldn't I wait the full 90 days?
The OCI department can be slow to send rejection or query emails. If they come late and you've used most of the window, you may run out of time to fix things before the 90-day cut-off. Starting early gives breathing room.
What is the difference between OCI Link (£100) and OCI Miscellaneous (£125)?
OCI Link is the straightforward online passport-number update within 90 days. OCI Miscellaneous is a full new booklet — required for name changes, nationality transfers, wrong OCI details, lost/damaged OCI, facial appearance change, address change, removing an ex-spouse's name, or the one-time re-issue when an under-20 OCI hits the first passport renewal after age 20.
My OCI was issued when I was over 20 — do I ever need a new booklet for a passport change?
No. If your OCI was originally issued at 20 or older — at any current age, including 50+ or 60+ — every passport update stays on the standard online OCI Link route. The one-time booklet rule only applies when the OCI was issued under 20.
I got my OCI as a child, and I've now turned 20 — what happens on my first new passport?
This triggers a one-time mandatory OCI booklet re-issue (Miscellaneous, £125) — not a simple online link. It's based on the facial-appearance change rule. After that one booklet re-issue, all future passport updates go back to standard OCI Link.
My OCI was on an Australian (or other) passport — now I have a British passport. What do I do?
This is a nationality transfer — a new OCI booklet is required via Miscellaneous (£125). You do not need to resubmit Indian-origin proof — only the transfer documents.
There are wrong details on my OCI (DOB or citizenship). How do I fix it?
Within 14 days of OCI issue, walk in to VFS directly and they will correct it on the spot. After 14 days, a full OCI replacement via Miscellaneous is required.
My OCI is lost or damaged — does age matter?
No age rule applies. A new booklet via Miscellaneous is the only route.
Do I need to visit VFS?
For standard OCI Link within 90 days, no — it's fully online. Miscellaneous cases (new booklet) usually do need a VFS appointment.
What documents are normally needed?
Usually: current passport, old passport if available, current OCI card, recent photo and signature. Spouse-based cases also need a subsisting marriage declaration and the spouse's passport / OCI documents — Matrix provides the declaration forms.
How fast do you upload?
For complete standard cases, our target is portal preparation and upload within 24–48 hours after receiving correct documents and payment.
I'm travelling within 2 days — can you rush my case?
Yes — message us straight away on WhatsApp with your travel date and we'll prioritise. Tell us before paying so we can confirm what's realistic in your timeframe.
I've seen posts about a "mobile OCI" or "eOCI card" — is that real?
There's no official update on a mobile-only OCI card yet — only the physical OCI booklet is accepted by airlines and immigration. Always carry the physical booklet when travelling.
Can I travel while the update is processing?
Many clients travel after the upload acknowledgement, but final checks are with airline and immigration officers. Carry your physical OCI booklet, current passport, old passport if available, and the upload/acknowledgement confirmation.
Who operates OCI Link?
OCI Link is operated by UK Matrix Solutions Ltd, a UK-based Indian documentation service provider. This website is independent and not affiliated with VFS Global, the Indian High Commission or the Government of India.
